Drams, Designs & Dragon: Elevating the Senses at "Great Thirstday"

We teamed up with The Great Room at One Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay to host a completely reimagined monthly social drinks event: "Great Thirstday: Drams & Discussions." While our masterclasses always dive deep into the fine engineering of scotch, this exclusive evening added a brilliant layer of contemporary culture, blending world-class liquid craftsmanship with fine art.
The energy in the lounge was electric as guests gathered around our tasting bar to explore four distinct spirits that challenge structural norms—including an extraordinary milestone we are incredibly proud to officially unveil.
The Grand Unveiling: "Whisky Meets Art"
We are incredibly proud to have used this evening to officially introduce "Whisky Meets Art", our exclusive, curated themed collection of private label bottlings. The concept behind this project is simple yet profound: flying directly to Scotland to hand-select the finest, character-driven casks, and pairing that liquid excellence with captivating visual masterpieces.
Teaninich 2016 - 8 Year Old ("Pearl Dragon & The Warrior" Limited Release)
The Blueprint: 46% ABV | Non-Chill Filtered | Natural Color
The Spirit: Sitting proudly at the center of our lineup was our very own private label bottling from the historic Teaninich Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Teaninich is legendary within the industry for its incredibly vibrant, clean, and grassy spirit framework, achieved through their rare use of a modern mash filter. This beautiful 8-year-old single malt greets the nose with an elegant wave of crisp green apples, fresh blossom, and soft, sweet maltiness. On the palate, it unfolds with layers of sweet orange zest, warm honey, vanilla, and a delicate touch of cinnamon spice.
The Collaboration: For the visual anchor of this bottle, we collaborated with William Kan, the renowned contemporary film director and artist. Drawing inspiration from the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs, William captured the bold essence of the Pearl Dragon and the Warrior through intricate oil paintings that serve as the front and back labels. Having the original large-scale framed canvas displayed live right next to the tasting bar brought the entire "Whisky Meets Art" concept to life for our guests.
Beyond our private release, we curated three other exceptional pours to take our guests on a complete geographic tour of Scotland:
1. The Raw Canvas: The Clydeside Distillery "New Make Spirit"
The Profile: 63.5% ABV | Pure, Un-aged Lowland Spirit
The Experience: To truly understand the power of distillation before wood ever touches the liquid, we poured this high-proof powerhouse straight from Glasgow’s stunning waterfront pumphouse. It shocked and delighted our guests with its intensely thick viscosity and vibrant punch of raw malty cereals, crisp green apple, and a surprisingly sweet cream soda finish.
2. The Speyside Classic: Linkwood 12 Year Old (Flora & Fauna)
The Profile: 43% ABV | Rich, Floral, and Fruity
The Experience: Serving as a gorgeous contrast to our heavy Highland and un-aged spirits, this classic Speyside malt brought pure elegance to the table. Matured beautifully over 12 years, it treats the palate to a textbook velvety texture filled with sweet orchard pears, creamy vanilla, fresh honey, and a gentle dusting of nutmeg.
3. The Coastal Legend: Talisker 10 Year Old
The Profile: 45.8% ABV | Peaty, Maritime, and Peppery
The Experience: We sailed over to the Isle of Skye to bring a dramatic close to our flight. Talisker 10 is world-famous for its fierce "Made by the Sea" personality. It exploded in the glass with powerful waves of rich peat smoke, briny sea-water saltiness, and fresh oyster liquor, all perfectly balanced by a sweet fruit core and an unmistakable, fiery crack of black pepper at the back of the throat.
The magic of this "Great Thirstday" session was watching the worlds of wealth, business, and fine art collide over shared glasses. Witnessing our guests photograph William Kan's breathtaking artwork, debate the rich viscosity of the Clydeside New Make, and line up to secure pre-orders for our Teaninich "Pearl Dragon" Box Set reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
