Until the early 1960s the machinery in the Linkwood Distillery was driven by a water-wheel, and when the stills were replaced at that time, every dent was faithfully copied and even the cobwebs were replaced.

Distillery Profile

This unsung hero in the world of single malts, Linkwood Distillery was established in 1821, but only started production in 1824. Located in Elgin, Speyside, neighbour to some the most impressive distillers like BenRiach, Glen Moray. Linkwood’s spirits make up a key part of the prestigious blends under Diageo, including Johnnie Walker. Of the 3.5 million litres produced annually, only 1-2% of the spirit from Linkwood makes its way to the world of single malts. For many years quasi-ofﬁcial bottlings have come from Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin – often from ex-Sherry casks.

They recently underwent a £5 million expansion because of increasing demand, with refurbishment and replacements.

Whisky Cask Specialists (WCS) has a great deal of experience in Independent Bottling and would like to offer clients an opportunity to collaborate and join with us in the world of Independent Bottling which allows financial returns within the short to medium term.

Your Benefits

For an investment of 50 bottles, WCS can provide a return in nine months, starting from the end of August, 2026.

Project Timeline

All botting, logistics and sale of Linkwood Independent Bottling will be managed by Whisky Cask Specialists.
A sample of the Linkwood cask, 13 year old single malt Whisky, will be provided to all the partners by the end of October 2026.
Partners can decide how many independent bottles of Linkwood they would like to keep for personal use. These will be taken at cost and delivered once they have arrived in Hong Kong, which will be before the end of January 2027 when selling will begin.
Before the end of May 2027, all partners in the Independent Bottling of the Linkwood will be paid out for each bottle they provided for sale to the wholesale market.
As a hedging mechanism, Whisky Cask Specialist will use our Linkwood cask bottles for events at a wholesale price on behalf of our partners. Over the past year, we have hosted around 20 various whisky themed events, such as tasting events, blending and pairing. As a result, we consumed over 150 bottles.
